WELWYN GARDEN CITY needed penalties to book their passage to the first-round proper, after a 1-1 stalemate.
The Hornets went in front with their first shot on target, when Chris Smith’s excellent diving header forced home Tom Day’s cross.
But with Horsham starting the second half in sloppy fashion, the visitors scored a deserved equaliser curtesy of substitute George Ironton’s wicked strike from 20 yards out, when he rifled into the top corner.
