BARNET have signed National League title winner Joe Widdowson on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old defender joins the Bees after four seasons at League Two club Leyton Orient.
Widdowson made 44 appearances for the O’s in the 2018-19 season as they returned to the EFL by becoming National League champions.
The left-back turned out 36 times over the last two campaigns having played in 466 senior matches during his career for the likes of Grimsby Town, Rochdale, Northampton Town and Dagenham & Redbridge. He is the latest recruit of new Barnet manager Harry Kewell.
“I am really pleased to get it done and to be signed on here,” said Widdowson. “I have been training here for the last week and a bit, I have been really impressed with everything.
“I am familiar with a few of the boys already which is good. I have really enjoyed the training and the gaffer’s methods.
“I have played quite a few games at this level and the Football League. I’ve won this division as well, so I know what it takes.
“If we can have a good start and build some momentum, there’s no reason we can’t be at the top of the league at the end of the season.”
