A NEW era for St Ives Town on their new 3G surface began with a battling win over hard-working Alvechurch.

The only goal came four minutes before the break courtesy of top poacher Nabil Shariff. He capitalised on an error from visiting keeper Dan Jezeph, who fumbled a deflected cross from the host’s star man Luke Fairlamb.
Fairlamb looked a threat down the left throughout the first period and he had earlier tested Jezeph with a rasping drive that the keeper did well to push away low to his left in 24th minute.
