DEFENCES were largely on top, and keepers were on top form when they weren’t.
However, Carshalton were half the width of a post from a late winner.
Margate’s Ben Greenhalgh had the game’s first opening, chipping just over the bar in the seventh minute, an effort which had Robins keeper Lloyd Thomas back-pedalling furiously.
Seven minutes later Greenhalgh slotted a pinpoint through ball to Ryan Palmer, but with just Thomas to beat, the Gate number seven slid the ball wide.
