MET POLICE arrested Lewes’s Cup progress with two goals inside the first half-hour, which allowed them to withstand a late Rooks rally.
The warning signs were there for the hosts when Jack Mazzone’s 12th-minute shot was cleared off the line by Mitchell Nelson and Ollie Robinson headed the resulting corner against the bar.
And in the 19th minute the Met led when Mazzone tapped home from close range.
