■ Hastings United put in a determined display as they took the honours in their visit to Three Bridges.
Bromage defiant in defence, finally fell to Hastings despite only having ten men from the 11th minute. Noel Leighton scored a brilliant goal to put Bridges in front, but a reckless challenge by the same player for a foul on Thomas Chalmers led to a straight red card.
Bridges were up against it from then on, but Hastings didn’t level until a minute before half time when Jack Dixon at last got the better of teenage keeper Pat Wanat, who was making his debut....
