Chesterfield to visit Champions League winners Chelsea in FA Cup third round

leaders have landed a glamour tie in the third round after they were paired with Champions League holders Chelsea.

Goals from Liam Mandeville and James Kellermann helped the Spirerites to a 2-0 win at League Two club Salford City on Sunday and they have received a trip to Bridge as a reward.

It is just over 60 years since the two sides last met in the competition with the Blues coming through a fifth round replay with a 3-0 win on their home ground.

James Rowe’s men will now head to Stamford Bridge on the weekend of Saturday 8th January as they prepare to face a Chelsea side that are rated as one of the favourites to lift the FA Cup in May.

Elsewhere in the draw, side will have to come through a home tie against Championship club Reading if they are to reach the fourth round for the first time since 2014.

have also been handed a home tie against second tier opposition after they were drawn alongside Championship promotion challengers AFC .

National League beat 4-0 on Monday night and will entertain AFC Wimbledon in the third round.
