PENNED: Pascal Kpohomouh signs on at

HE’S represented England alongside the likes of Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Mason Greenwood, but now Pascal Kpohomouh is ready to plot his own path back in senior football – with AFC Totton.

The former Manchester City and Southampton defender has joined the title challengers on a permanent deal.

Kpohomouh, 20, began his career in the City academy before being sold to Saints in 2018 on a two-year scholarship. He signed professional terms upon turning 17, and regularly captained Southampton U18s before progressing to the U23s.

Capped by England at U16, U17 and U18 levels, Kpohomouh counts Foden, Saka and Greenwood among his former teammates – but now has a new challenge at Totton.

“Once I saw what this club is aspiring to, I decided to join,” he said. “It’s a bit different to be training against men rather than within an under-18 group but I can’t wait to start playing!”

After being released by Southampton last summer, Kpohomouh had trials with several Championship clubs before short spells in with and , until an injury curtailed his involvement in November.

He has lived in Totton since joining Southampton and the Stags have given him a chance to try and re-establish himself in the professional game.

“This deal happened quickly so to some extent, we have signed him on the strength of his reputation and profile,” said Totton head coach Dan Sackman. “But having seen him in training and recognised how easily he has settled in amongst the other lads, so far so good.”

Totton have also added two more promising youngsters to their ranks with the recent signings of goalkeeper Josh Jeffries and striker Harrison Cable.

Jeffries, 16, is a BTEC Sports Level 3 student at College who impressed for AFC Totton’s U18s to earn himself a place on the bench in the Southampton Senior Cup tie against just before Christmas.

He put pen-to-paper this week to sign forms for the Stags, who are keen to help him achieve his full potential.

Cable, 17, joins from Premier outfit , where he has featured largely for their reserve team.

The AFC Totton management, including director of football Sam Davies, have been tracking the progress of the teenager for some time and feel now is right to bring him to the Snows Stadium to further aid his development.
