NEWPORT COUNTY have added free agent Rhys Griffiths to their squad as they continue to challenge for the Blue Square Bet Premier title.
Griffiths, 32, has spent the majority of his career playing for Welsh League sides, including Haverfordwest, Carmarthen and Port Talbot.
His record of 181 goals in 180 appearances for Llanelli saw him picked up by Plymouth Argyle last summer but he had his contract at Home Park cancelled in January after making 17 appearances for the Pilgrims.
He has now linked up with County and Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh is happy to have him around for the season’s run in.
Speaking to the club’s website, Edinburgh said: “Rhys is a proven goal scorer and when we knew that he could become available we kept an eye on the situation.
“He just adds another dimension to the team and he will score goals. We‘re delighted to have him on board going into a crucial part of the season.”
