TAUNTON made it eight consecutive league wins as Ross Stearn’s hat-trick help worsen Merthyr’s’ plight at the bottom.
The visitors were ahead as early as the second minute when Stearn’s shot from 20 yards crashed off the crossbar and found the net via the back of goalkeeper Jamie Cogman.
Merthyr saw plenty of the ball as they tried to respond without unduly troubling Peacocks’ custodian Will Buse, who saved from Matthew Harris while Cogman denied Stearn from a freekick at the other end.
