WORTHING stretched their league lead as results elsewhere combined with this victory to leave them five points above the chasing pack.
But they had to wait until five minutes from time to secure the points from a scrappy match in difficult overhead and underfoot conditions. There was plenty of endeavour but relatively little quality evident in the opening 45 minutes.
The nearest either side came was a thunderous shot from 25 yards by Worthing’s Joel Colbran which smacked against the underside of the bar.
