ATHERTON Collieries were defeated by Hyde United in a closely fought contest at the Skuna Stadium.
A defensive mix-up in the second half saw Hyde’s Jack Dyche gifted the winning goal, in a game which saw few real chances created by either side.
It’s a precious three points for the Tigers, who extended the gap between them and the bottom two – although Witton Albion, who sit one place below and didn’t play yesterday, have four games in hand.
