MERTHYR Town’s hopes of avoiding relegation were boosted as they defeated drop-zone rivals Wimborne Town at Met-Life Stadium.
The Martyrs are now nine points behind 20thplayed Dorchester Town and ten adrift of Kings Langley with eight games to play but the Magpies, with two games in hand, are a further four points behind Merthyr.
The first half had few chances, but things were different after the break. Merthyr keeper Jamie Cogman produced a brilliant double save two minutes after the resumption.
