GATESHEAD maintained their three-point advantage at the top of the table with a win against Boston United – Paul Cox’s first home defeat since taking over in January.
Having survived an opening six minutes of Pilgrims pressure, which included three corners and a smart save from Filip Marschall to deny Luke Shiels’ overhead kick, Gateshead led before touching the ball in the United penalty area.
Greg Olley’s free-kick flew past Marcus Dewshurst via the forehead of United midfielder Tom Platt.
