HORNCHURCH surprisingly missed out on a home play-off semi-final after suffering defeat against ten-man Wingate, when a win would have secured third spot.
The visitors were safe but battled hard, especially when sub Sam Hatton’s dismissal left them with ten men throughout the final quarter.
The Urchins nearly opened the scoring on 13 minutes when Tom Wraight’s dangerous freekick was headed narrowly over by Sam Higgins.
