THE Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup brought the curtain down on the 2021-22 Northern League season – and there was late drama.
Newcastle University had led for virtually the whole game against fellow second division side Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the final played at Birtley Town.
Finn Hebron’s first-minute strike from outside the box got the final off to a flyer in front of a 452-strong crowd.
However, Albion levelled when University defender Milo Cook put through his own goal on 89 minutes.
