Sir Stanley’s protege did us all proud

MY LOCAL club, Stafford Rangers, recently lost one of our star players from the 1970s.
Stuart Chapman, a great midfielder, sadly passed away after suffering with dementia.
In 1965, Stanley Matthews was persuaded to join the board at Port Vale as general manager and after scouting north-east England and central Scotland, Geordie Chapman signed along with Scot Mick Cullerton.
After a short spell at Vale, both players joined Stafford Rangers and excelled in the Northern Premier League. They helped Rangers win the FA Trophy twice, several League Cups and lengthy runs ...
