■THE home side controlled the game for the majority of the first half but were unable to carve out many chances with the score remaining goalless at half-time.
The second period started a lot livelier with the visitors creating the majority of the early chances. Two defensive errors in the space of a minute saw the visitors take a 2-0 lead with goals from Luke Dennis and James Askey.
In the 66th minute substitute Declan McLoughlin was denied a debut goal for Skelmersdale when his 20 yard thunderbolt smashed against the crossbar.
