■ A great strike from 40 yards by Colne’s Tom Hoyle after 19 minutes was enough to give the hosts three much-needed points.  
The Reds battled throughout against their high-flying opponents and came close to a second goal on several occasions with Linnets goalkeeper Danny Taberner making a great save to push Craig Carneys shot over in the first half, and Enock Lusiama heading just over the bar from a corner. And at the other end, Colne keeper Hakan Burton denied Matty Birchall on his comeback from injury.
