MATLOCK’S play-off hopes were severely dented as they were held 1-1 at home against Ashton.
The Robins may currently linger just above the relegation places, but were the more likely winners over 90 minutes.
Their hosts ended the afternoon with nine men and manager Martin Carruthers conceded his side had produced a terrible showing, not helped by matters late on.
Matlock lost midfielder Connor Dimaio to a knee injury, before substitute Robbie McNicholas was dismissed after mistiming a last-man challenge on Craig Hobson.
