WHY, oh why, are the Football Association devaluing their own competitions?
Last Saturday, no fewer than six of the eight quarter-final ties in the FA Trophy and FA Vase - including all four in the latter - were decided by penalty shootouts.
Last-eight games are usually tight, close-fought affairs with Wembley on the horizon.
I have no problem with drawn ties not going to replays as they used to, although I believe they should be kept in the FA Cup.
But why on earth are drawn ties in Non-League’s two most prestigious national cup competitions not at least...
