A goal in each half gave Matlock a welcome win which keeps their playoff hopes alive, but also jolts Liversedge’s hopes of avoiding the drop. Matlock were the better side in a scrappy first half, but it took until the 38th minute for skipper Adam Yates to break the deadlock. Liversedge somehow scrambled the ball off the line, but John Johnston returned the ball into the box for Yates to score with a precise header.
