Spartans pay penalty as Rhead hits the spot

ALFRETON Town grabbed a vital three points at home against Blyth to further bolster their promotion hopes.
Alfreton captain Matt Rhead stroked home the winning penalty on 53 minutes to propel the Reds into fourth position in the table.
Yusifu Ceesay spurned a couple of early chances for the hosts. Alfreton’s best first-half opening came when Rhead knocked down a long ball for Bailey Hobson to strike but he was denied by Alex Mitchell.
Rhead then had an effort cleared off the line from the resulting corner.
