Imps Appoint Former Macc Boss Gary Simpson

LINCOLN CITY have handed Gary Simpson the managerial reins on a deal running until the end of the season.

Simpson, 51, spent a brief period as caretaker manager of the Imps back in 2003-04 following a four-year spell as assistant boss to Keith Alexander.

He has since spent time as director of at Bury and managed Lincoln’s Blue Square Bet Premier rivals .

Simpson takes over from Grant Brown and Chris Moyses, who oversaw Saturday’s goalless draw with and a 1-0 home defeat to Mansfield Town on Tuesday night.

Speaking about the appointment,  Imps chairman Bob Dorian said: “Gary had been in our sights for quite a while and we instigated talks with him early last week, culminating in this afternoon’s appointment.
“We are very pleased that Gary has agreed to join us and as a Board we look forward to working with him.

“Gary is a former Imps’ stalwart and I am sure you will all give him the support he and the club needs.”
