ONCE again, the Southern League decided that Winchester City had to draw the short straw when the fixtures were published and, for the second season running, they find themselves forced to go to Merthyr on a Tuesday night.
While rescheduling such a fixture from a Saturday due to clashing with a cup-tie or inclement weather is understandable, to pencil such a fixture into the initial fixture list, especially for the second season in a row, is completely unacceptable. Fixtures pencilled in for midweek should require the minimum distance possible, not a 330-mile round...
