BOREHAM Wood ended their pre-season with a well-deserved win over a slick Arsenal XI.
The hosts started the match positively. Summer-signing Tom Whelan nearly opened the scoring on nine minutes, firing narrowly over.
Almost immediately, Arsenal’s Jack Henry-Francis was just off target with a long-range shot.
Wood took a deserved lead on 17 mminutes when Tyrone Marsh picked out recent signing Kwesi Appiah with a lovely flick, and he finished well past Noah Cooper in the Gunners’ goal.
