CURZON ASHTON’S final win of last season was away to Darlington, and they started the new campaign with a repeat performance at Blackwell Meadows. Will Hayhurst was central to a 2-0 victory in April, scoring twice, and he was the hero again by being involved in all three of the visitors’ goals, the first after 15 minutes from a corner.
Quakers goalkeeper Tommy Taylor failed to deal with Hayhurst’s delivery, and Adam Barton was on hand to scramble home the loose ball.
