AN ENTERTAINING opening-day clash proved successful for St Albans City.
Sights of goal proved difficult to come by for both sides during the opening stages, with both defences proving to be on top.
The breakthrough came in the 35th minute and it was a debutant who struck for the home side, as Dylan Fage leapt highest to meet a long-ball forward and directed his header over Gerard Benfield.
St Albans doubled their lead after half-time when a penalty was awarded for a handball.
