WHAT a delight it was to open the last week’s NLP (August 19) and find a photograph of Dick Sedgwick holding the FA Vase aloft for Hoddesdon Town in the first ever FA Vase Final in 1975. We were there. My dad, Alf, was a former Hoddesdon Town goalkeeper so it was an event we couldn’t miss. And it was an event that emphasised the friendliness of Non-League football.
There were several people who wandered up to Dad with a friendly “Good to see you, Alf. How are you doing?”
