ALFRETON TOWN survived a real scare on the east coast to progress to the 3rd qualifying round for the first time in three seasons.
Underdogs Cleethorpes started in very positive fashion but were rocked by a penalty awarded to the visitors in the 17th minute. However, stopper James McKeown dived low to pull off a smart save from Lewis Salmon’s spot kick.
A short time later, Brody Robertson provided the opener for the hosts with a superb finish with the outside of his boot.
