FOR 45 minutes yesterday, Runcorn Linnets appeared, thanks to a collective effort out of possession, to have the measure of Chorley.
Will Saxon’s opening goal even gave them a glimpse of an upset against higher-ranked foes.
But by the closing stages of a compelling contest, with goalkeeper Bayleigh Passant hobbled and after losing captain Sean O’Mahony to injury, they were relieved to have a second chance.
