■ SHILDON beat second-top Whitley Bay 4-0 at Dean Street to move seven points clear at the top.
After Joe Posthill’s 52nd minute penalty was saved, Shildon scored three times in five minutes through Andre Ardelean, with a brace, and Luke Spalding. Posthill hit the fourth late on.
Birtley Town moved up to third after two Callum Smith goals either side of Luke Hunter’s equaliser earned them a 2-1 home win over lowly Penrith.
