They continued to grow and joined the as Blackpool Mechanics FC.

In 2008 Blackpool Mechanics and Juniors merged and the growth of the club continued with the new name ‘AFC Blackpool’ chosen for the next chapter.

Owen Coyle at AFC BlackpoolThe club offers grassroots from four years of age and retains the nickname ‘The Mechanics’ to maintain the links with its history but continue to build for the future.

With the £50,000 grant already secured, AFC Blackpool will be renovating its clubhouse, repairing the roof and making significant changes to the club’s catering facilities including the installation of a fully functioning kitchen.

These developments will mean the club can supplement its traditional revenue channels and diversify the use of its ground.

BCFA further £100,000 would help them go one step further, enabling The Mechanics to provide changing rooms and other facilities for their younger players that represent 12 junior teams at the club.

The Mechanics also want to build a hospitality suite for use on match days and by community groups in the local area at other times. These are all much needed facilities in the area that would not just benefit members of AFC Blackpool, but also the whole community.
