THE blustering, swirling wind could have spoilt the game, but both teams consistently played the ball on the ground as Sholing entertained Merthyr Town in the league for the last game before Christmas.
Sholing had the better of the first half with a couple of good chances for Dan Mason and pressure down both flanks which resulted in numerous corners.
Owen Roundell denied Merthyr a goal with a great header interception that took the ball from the Merthyr forward set to open the scoring.
