RUNCORN Linnets responded in the way manager Billy Paynter will have wanted after a disappointing defeat on New Year’s Day.
Olly Molloy’s decisive goal arrived early, struck true with his left foot and placed perfectly in the bottom corner.
The striker might have had a hat-trick if not for the brilliance of Grove keeper Kieran Harrison before Linnets passed a test of a different kind following Jacques Welsh’s dismissal for a second caution after 76 minutes.
