WHICKHAM stayed on course for a first FA Vase final appearance since 1981 after beating fellow Northern League side Blyth Town on penalties after a goalless stalemate.
A vital save in the penalty shoot-out from Whickham keeper Dan Lister ended the Braves’ hopes of continuing their club record run in the competition.
In a cagey first-half, Blyth had the clearer chances to break the deadlock.
