■ HIGHGATE United gave their title hopes a massive boost with a thumping 5-1 win at Romulus.
The top three were all out of action due to the weather allowing the Tythe Barn Lane side the opportunity to close the gap and they did so in style with a scintillating second-half display.
A Correy Carruthers goal on the stroke of half-time was all that separated the sides going into the break but with Kartel O’Neil-Martin, Charlie Shaw, Ryan Harkin and Bassit Manday netting in the second period, the only consolation for Roms was a late effort from Ron Hanna.
