POOLE fell to their sixth-consecutive defeat in a fairly even contest.
Basingstoke started the brighter with James Whisken’s excellent block denying Liam Ferdinand after four minutes.
A great chance fell to Basingstoke’s Bradley Wilson on the right after 25 minutes. He raced in on goal but shot just wide.
Josh Staunton defended well at the near post to cut out the danger but a minute later Basingstoke took the lead. Curtis Angell’s header brought a good save, but from the subsequent corner Billy Upton...
