TYRELL WAITE’S late double ensured second-placed Mickleover returned to winning ways at Alvechurch.
The game was drifting towards a stalemate until Waite pounced twice in the space of seven minutes. Jaanai Gordon almost immediately halved the deficit deep in stoppage time but it was too late for the Church to rescue a point.
The thrilling ending was in stark contrast to an otherwise attritional encounter. The hosts had made the brighter start, with Gordon firing wide after charging through.
