Hayes & Yeading United have appointed Andy Leese as their new manager.
The experienced boss replaces Mark Molesley, who resigned last week and has since been unveiled as at his former club Weymouth.
Lees – who enjoyed promotion, several play-off campaigns and cup runs during 11 years as manager at Chesham United, six seasons at Enfield Town and more recently a spell at Kettering Town – comes in with just six league games to play and United in the Southern Premier South relegation zone.
Leese said: “This is a great club and I’m excited to take up this appointment. I’ve watched the side a couple of times recently, and our opponents too.
“I know the quality of the players we have available to us and, as they showed on Good Friday against Chesham United, they are more than capable of going toe-to-toe against anybody in the Division.
“We need results, we possibly need some luck, but with hard work, you can create luck. With a positive mindset of what we can achieve and some points on the board, our task becomes easier and the task for our rivals becomes much harder.”
Leese will retain the services of Delroy Preddie, Clark Jenner and Gus Payne as part of his coaching staff and joining the dugout team is another familiar face – former United scout and UEFA A Licensed coach Simon Lane, who in recent years has managed Wingate & Finchley, Westfield and Kingstonian, who he led to relegation survival at the end of last season.
On appointing Leese, Hayes & Yeading chairman Dev Jassi added: “Andy has an incredible amount of knowledge, experience and success in Non-League football along with a reputation for putting his heart and soul into his roles in management.
“We all know that this is not an easy task ahead but have belief in what we can all achieve together.”
