CHELMSFORD CITY finally broke down stubborn Tonbridge resistance to keep their noses in front in the race for second place.
The Clarets started the brightest and Samir Carruthers got on the end of a good move but his shot was straight at Angels keeper Jon Henly.
Tonbridge had a few forays forward mainly with the experienced Sean Shields but they were kept at the minimum by the City defence although Jacob Marsden had to make a good save at the near post at the end of the first half to deny him.
