AFC Totton host Merthyr Town in Saturday’s match at the Testwood Stadium looking to bounce back from defeat last time out in the Southern League Premier South.
Totton, who sit fourth in the league after 36 games, fell to a 1-0 away defeat to Hungerford Town on April 13.
They face a Merthyr side who secured a draw in their last match, a 1-1 tie with Hendon, and who sit sixth in the table.
With 75 goals in 38 games so far this season, Merthyr are the league’s third-highest scorers with 2.0 goals per game. And they are conceding fewer than average, letting in 53 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.
Totton are also above average scorers, with 1.9 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.7. They have conceded 1.1 goals per game.
In the last three years, Totton and Merthyr have played each other on three occasions. Totton won all of them.
Their last meeting was on November 11, when Totton won 3-1 away.
The hosts are in mixed form in the Southern League Premier South, with three wins and a draw from their last six games.
With two wins and three draws over that period, Town’s form is slightly worse – they have taken nine points from 18, compared to Totton’s 10.
