RUNCORN Linnets held off a late comeback from Widnes and ended the Vikings’ hopes of reaching the play-offs.
It took just two minutes for Anthony Kay to opening the scoring for Runcorn, when he headed home.
Some early pressure led to a bullet volley from Sean Miller from just inside the box. Runcorn replied through Joesph Thompson, when slotting the ball home off a Oliver Molloy flick on.
The Yellows went from strength to strength, sub Adam Moseley taking it around the keeper and slotting into an empty net.
