THE well-worn cliche of
■matches being a game of two halves was never more true when Met Police took on Ashford Town on their home turf.
There was little to shout about in the first half, a period reprieved only by an early penalty awarded to Town, which was dispatched by Jack Smith. There followed only a couple of chances from the sides before the break.
But it was a lively start to the second half, with Liam Beach pulling off a few excellent saves to keep it 1-0.
Another penalty came Ashford’s way, which was finished off by Smith.
