Sam Cox confirmed as new manager of Oxford City

North side have brought in Sam Cox as their new manager.

Cox replaces Ross Jenkins, who departed for Boreham Wood last month following last season’s relegation from the National League.

It is Cox’s first permanent role in management. The 33-year-old joined as player coach in January this year and took over as interim manager following David Noble’s sacking in April.

The former Guyana captain oversaw three wins to keep the Stones up, but he departed following Matty Taylor’s appointment.

A former teammate of Harry Kane in the Tottenham Hotspur youth setup, Cox spoke of his delight in landing his role to the official Oxford City website:

“I’m delighted to get the deal over the line.

“My first impressions of this club are tremendous. There’s some really good people around the place and after years of playing against Oxford, I know how well run the club is.

“I’m really looking forward to getting going, starting the season and trying to take this football club to where it deserves and needs to be.”
