GATESHEAD chairman Neil Pinkerton says a move away from the International Athletics Stadium is “very much Plan B”.
Really? Even discounting the ongoing wrangle over surety of tenure, the ground has always been a drag.
Sure, the rent is favourable and the central location convenient. But the clue is in the title. It is – and always will be – an athletics stadium.
The viewing angles are too shallow. There’s a great big running track around the pitch, which makes it look as if the action is taking place on a distant island.
