BOHAN Dixon says being back at Warrington Town is like “coming home”.
And the popular midfielder said he came mighty close to hanging up his boots after a short spell at Macclesfield didn’t work out.
Dixon, 34, spent six seasons with the Yellows, making 198 appearances and scoring 28 goals, before departing in February to join the Silkmen for an undisclosed fee.
But Dixon struggled to settle at Moss Rose and made just seven appearances as Macc failed to win promotion from the NPL Premier play-offs.
Dixon admits he turned down other offers to resume his career – and even considered retirement – before realising that Cantilever Park was the only place he wanted to be, as Mark Beesley’s first summer signing.
“A little opportunity came for me at 34 and I wasn’t expecting it,” said Dixon. “Things didn’t go to plan and that’s life. I’ve learnt from it and it is what it is. There are no harsh words or any love lost with Macclesfield.
“I’m buzzing to be back. It’s like home. I played here for six years. It’s a no-brainer to come back here.
“I was 50/50 whether to call it a day. Last season I was 50/50 whether I was going to sign again, but it was guaranteed I was never going to sign anywhere else. I’ve had a few really decent offers but it was a no-brainer for me.
“When I left, I didn’t realise how positive I was for the fans here. So it’s a good feeling that you’re obviously doing something right.”
