IT’S been quite a summer at Ramsgate. Missing out on promotion in a two-horse race with Cray Valley PM, they were red-hot favourites to follow the Millers into Step 3 after a storming season which yielded 89 points and 106 goals.
But a shock 1-0 home defeat to Kent rivals Sittingbourne ended the promotion dream and prompted manager Ben Smith to depart.
Former Lewes boss Tony Russell took over but, four weeks later, he was on his way too, paving the way for Smith to return in a bizarre U-turn.
