NORTHERN League first division new boys Blyth Town’s blistering unbeaten start to the season came to an end as league rivals Birtley Town scored in each half to emerge victorious at Gateway Park.
Blyth were up against it after captain George Hayton was sent off for handling the ball on the line after just nine minutes.
Callum Turnbull then sent Adam Cameron the wrong way from the spot.
