There’s a top three clash in the National League for a second week running.
Gateshead moved to the summit last week after a last minute win over Eastleigh. Despite Tom Allan’s red card on 61 minutes, they ended the Spitfires’ unbeaten run and continue theirs. Barnet will overtake them if they win at the International Stadium – Dean Brennan’s side have lost two of their three on the road but make the long journey on the back of a 7-0 win over Tamworth, where Zak Brunt scored a hat-trick. The Lambs will look to bounce back at Eastleigh, who have netted in every game this term but are winless in their last two.
Aldershot Town and Rochdale face off in front of the TV cameras this evening. Aldershot have struggled for consistency this term (WLWLW in their last five) while Rochdale arrive in Hampshire in a confident mood with back-to-back wins and four clean sheets in six. Both find themselves in the play-off spots.
Forest Green Rovers were on the box last week and clinched a dramatic late win at Sutton United, their first away success since relegation. They’ll be looking to build on it at Solihull Moors. Andy Whing’s side are unbeaten in their last three after a mediocre start.
Southend United failed to arrive at AFC Fylde last week after disruptions ahead of their train journey. Today they’re at Oldham Athletic, who have drawn three of their last four, the last two 1-1. They played out the same scoreline against the Shrimpers in January.
Maidenhead United picked up an eye-catching win against Barnet in their last game at York Road, but have otherwise struggled this season. Dagenham & Redbridge arrive in Berkshire out of form with no win since the opening day and no successes on the road in 2024/25.
Hartlepool United added Roshaun Mathurin to their squad yesterday on loan from Crystal Palace. He’s in line for his debut against FC Halifax Town today. The Pools have drawn all three home games but have been hindered by poor discipline with three sent off in six games. Halifax’s last two contests have contained a red card as well and there have been five dismissed in their last 12 encounters with Darren Sarll’s side.
Sutton United, winless in their last three, host Boston United, who won their last away game at high-flying York City. The Minstermen are still unbeaten away but will have a tough task extending it at Wealdstone – Matty Taylor’s side have bounced back from a slow start and have won all four meetings with York in the National League.
Ebbsfleet United remain bottom of the division with just one point thus far. They haven’t won away since 24 February and have collected a mere three points from a possible 30 continuing from last season. They’re away to Phil Parkinson’s Altrincham, who have only scored four goals so far and sit in 15th.
AFC Fylde have had 12 days off following last week’s postponement against Southend United. They’ll be hoping to be fresher than a Yeovil Town side who have endured three lengthy away trips in as many weeks, racking up the miles to Gateshead and Boston in the last two Saturdays. Mark Cooper’s side could enter the play-off places with a win in Wesham.
Braintree Town have drawn their last three, with the last two ending 0-0. They host Woking and have a good record against the Cards, only losing three of 14 meetings.
